The rules of the quest

Terms of Service

The agreement for using RelicNotes, including local data, accounts, community content, AI, automation, purchases, and service limitations.

Last updated: November 2, 2026

Agreement and scope

These Terms of Service are an agreement between you and the RelicNotes operator concerning relicnotes.com, the RelicNotes desktop application, and RelicNotes-operated online services. By accessing or using them, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the services.

The Privacy Policy and Diamond Purchases & Refunds are part of these Terms. Additional terms presented for a specific feature also apply to that feature. Mandatory consumer rights in your jurisdiction are not waived by these Terms.

Eligibility and accounts

You must be legally able to agree to these Terms. If you are below the age of legal majority, you may use the services only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian who accepts these Terms. The service is not directed to children under 13.

  • An account is optional for core local note-taking but required for specified online and community features.
  • Provide accurate registration information and keep your credentials and sessions secure.
  • You are responsible for activity under your account and must notify us if you suspect unauthorized access.
  • Email verification and good account standing may be required for purchases, voting, or other trust-sensitive actions.
  • Do not create accounts through automated abuse, evade a suspension, impersonate another person, or share accounts in a way that creates security or fraud risk.

Local-first service and your backups

Ordinary notes, media, most game progress, and many settings are stored locally. An account does not provide complete cloud backup or synchronization of ordinary notes, media, inventory contents, or application state.

You are responsible for maintaining appropriate exports and off-device backups, verifying imports and restores, and protecting local files and API keys. We are not responsible for avoidable loss caused by failing to back up local data, but nothing in this paragraph excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

License to use RelicNotes

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use RelicNotes for your own lawful personal, educational, or internal productivity purposes.

You may not copy, redistribute, sell, lease, sublicense, publicly offer, modify, reverse engineer, or attempt to derive source code from the software except where applicable law expressly permits it or a separate written license allows it. You may not remove proprietary notices, bypass paid or trust controls, or distribute modified installers as official RelicNotes releases.

Acceptable use

  • Do not violate applicable law, regulation, third-party rights, or these Terms.
  • Do not upload or distribute malware, spyware, ransomware, credential stealers, or harmful automation, or use RelicNotes to gain unauthorized access to a device, account, network, or service.
  • Do not harass, threaten, defraud, exploit, or harm others; facilitate violence; or distribute unlawful sexual or exploitative content.
  • Do not publish secrets, personal information, confidential material, or copyrighted content without the necessary authorization or rights.
  • Do not interfere with the website, backend, other users, rate limits, security controls, or payment systems.
  • Do not scrape, probe, overload, or automatically access online services except through documented functionality or with written permission.
  • Do not manipulate ratings, reviews, votes, downloads, diamonds, or other rewards, or use the service for money laundering or fraudulent transactions.

Your content and shared-content license

You retain ownership of notes and other content you create. RelicNotes does not claim ownership of content that remains only on your device.

When you submit content to an online or community feature, you grant the RelicNotes operator a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, format, display, transmit, and distribute that content only as reasonably needed to operate, secure, moderate, back up, and provide that feature. For shared community notes, this includes displaying the shared note and delivering downloads to users.

  • You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed for content you submit and for the licenses you grant.
  • You are responsible for reviewing notes for hidden blocks, attachments, comments, transcripts, secrets, personal information, and automation before sharing them.
  • Removing online content stops future catalog distribution where applicable, but does not recall copies already downloaded by other users and does not immediately remove permitted backups or legally retained records.
  • We may remove or restrict content, but are not obligated to monitor all content or endorse any user material.

Community Notes

Community notes are created by users, not by RelicNotes, unless explicitly identified otherwise. RelicNotes does not guarantee their accuracy, completeness, compatibility, or suitability for your purposes.

Downloading a shared note creates a local copy. Respect the creator and any third-party rights in that content, and do not redistribute substantial copies without permission or another valid legal basis. Review rich media, links, automation, and executable-related blocks before opening or running them.

Purchases and virtual items

Prices, currency, quantities, and applicable charges are shown before you confirm a purchase. Diamond payments are processed through Stripe. You authorize us and the payment provider to charge the selected payment method and to maintain associated transaction records.

  • Diamonds and other virtual items are limited digital features or in-app units, not money, deposits, investments, cryptocurrency, or stored-value accounts.
  • Virtual items have no cash value outside the service, cannot be exchanged for legal tender, and may not be sold or transferred outside features we expressly provide.
  • We may manage, modify, cap, suspend, or discontinue virtual items and rewards to operate the service, prevent abuse, or comply with law, subject to your non-waivable rights.
  • Diamond refunds, missing deliveries, and duplicate charges are governed by the Diamond Purchases & Refunds policy and applicable law.

AI features and third-party models

AI features may use a local provider you configure or OpenRouter and a third-party model you select. Provider fees, availability, content rules, and data handling may apply separately. You are responsible for your provider account, API key, and usage charges.

  • AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, or inappropriate. Review it before relying on it, especially for health, legal, financial, safety, or other consequential decisions.
  • Review proposed note edits before applying them. Keep backups before allowing automated or bulk changes.
  • Do not submit content to a cloud provider unless you have the right and permission to do so.
  • We do not guarantee that a model, provider, output, integration, or free tier will remain available.

Automation and desktop tools

Fire Mode and related tools can type, click, launch or close applications, capture screens, and perform other actions on your computer. Use them only on systems and content you are authorized to control. Review workflows before running them, keep cancellation controls available, and do not use automation to violate another service, evade security, damage data, or perform unattended high-impact actions without appropriate safeguards. You are responsible for workflows you create, download, import, or run.

Third-party services and links

Third-party authentication, payment, AI, video, model, update, and linked services are provided by their respective operators. We do not control and are not responsible for their independent content, availability, security, or practices. Your use may be subject to separate terms and privacy policies. A link or integration does not itself constitute an endorsement.

Updates, availability, and changes

Features may be experimental, unavailable, changed, or discontinued. Online services may be interrupted for maintenance, security, capacity, provider failures, or other reasons. Desktop updates may be required to maintain compatibility or security.

We may revise these Terms by posting an updated version and changing its date. Where required, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent. Continued use after revised Terms take effect constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by law.

Suspension and termination

You may stop using the service at any time. You can sign out, uninstall the app, remove local data using available controls, and request deletion of online account data through support. Signing out or uninstalling alone does not delete server-side account records.

We may suspend or terminate access, remove content, or restrict features if we reasonably believe there is a material breach, fraud, security risk, unlawful activity, harm to users, or a legal requirement. Where practicable and lawful, we will provide notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination—including content licenses for delivered copies, payment obligations, disclaimers, liability limits, and dispute provisions—will survive.

Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. We do not warrant that user content, AI output, downloaded notes, or third-party services will be accurate, safe, compatible, or suitable for your purposes. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the RelicNotes operator and its service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, data, or business opportunities arising from or related to the services.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the aggregate liability of the RelicNotes operator for claims arising from or related to the services will not exceed the greater of the amounts you paid directly to RelicNotes for the service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to liability or USD 100.

These limits do not exclude or limit liability for fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited. Your statutory consumer rights remain unaffected where applicable.

Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend and indemnify the RelicNotes operator against third-party claims, damages, liabilities, and reasonable expenses arising from content you submit, your misuse of the services, your violation of law or third-party rights, or your material breach of these Terms. This does not require you to indemnify us for our own unlawful conduct or where such an obligation is prohibited.

General terms and contact

If a provision is held unenforceable, it will be modified only to the minimum extent necessary or severed, and the remaining provisions will continue. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them as part of a reorganization, merger, or transfer of the service. These Terms and the incorporated policies are the entire agreement about the services unless a separate written agreement states otherwise.

Before starting a formal dispute, please contact us so we can try to resolve the issue informally. Nothing in these Terms prevents you from using a mandatory consumer dispute process or a court or authority that cannot lawfully be excluded.
